How do I define goals in my life? How will I be able to get to it?

Goals, as I define it myself, are the precious things, that we value the most. These are dreams that make up who we really are and what we really want, to achieve our satisfaction in life. As I’ve gone through my high school years, I’ve come to realize what I really want to be. And that is to be a professional accountant, just like my mother. If I would be given an opportunity, I would really love to work at the Asian Development Bank here in the Philippines or maybe, at a multinational company.

I do have a lot of goals to achieve, but I believe that even though they are too much for a fifteen year old girl, somehow, I will be able to reach them. Why dream of being an accountant if there are other opportunities that await me? I want to become an accountant because I want to follow my mom's footsetps. I too want to achieve the success that she has gained. She is very dedicated to her job and I know that I too can be able to dedicate myself to my chosen career. Thus, even when I was still a child, I was already being exposed to financial stuffs, therefore;
it wouldn’t be that complicated for me to understand those things. Moreover, I know that I can excel at this career because accounting is one of the course requirements for the fourth year high school students at our school, so, as part of the formation for college, we are given the basic knowledge in that field.

Getting to it is not as easy as one might be thinking and it will definitely take a lot of hard work. I consider that learning from experiences, hanging out with great friends, taking advices, commentaries, and criticisms properly will shape me into a better person that I have to be. Learning from advisors, studying hard, being practical and analyzing every action I take is also necessary. I do not have to be that good in math, in science, or in a specific subject or course to be able to excel in my chosen career. It does not even matter if my chosen university is not as popular compared to the universities that my batch mates have applied to. All that will matters is how I handle the learning that I might get
into the institution I have decided to go into, and the character formation I received from it.

If I have been successful with my chosen career, I think that my success will not be worth it if I will not be sharing what I have had with others. Since I am a part of the church organization in our subdivision, I will be helping out in the ministry and help the church gather funds for outreach activities and other church services that might need funding. But, eventually, I will absolutely share my blessings with my family. They are the primary reason why I made that choice to become an accountant and it will only be enough that I help my parents in their allocations.

“Big things come in small packages” this line is essential to me because it helps me motivate myself in achieving my goals. Though sometimes I feel uneasy because of others’ comments, I’m always looking forward in doing my best to correct the mistakes that I may have done before. Though I’m not particularly good in math, I’m relatively better in science; I make it a point to improve my weaknesses. I let my other classmates explain to me how the problem goes and ask them to teach me how to solve them.

Achieving our goals can be like a game of basketball. When we make mistakes during the game, we take advantage of the lessons learned when given another chance. We must make sure that we do not commit the same mistake again to be able to win the game. So, for us to accomplish our aims, we must not commit the same mistakes as before so that there will be a bright future ahead of us and we will be able to win our goals. Effective and early definition of one's goals in life is key to following your dreams to completion.
