Pinoys try to stay connected via social networking sites
No matter in the world, whether it is via phone calls, texts, email, or other online avenues (eg, internet telephony - where one can get his or her own online number, social networking media), communications is vital to linking Filipinos to each other as they share life's experiences together. Social networking sites have become a popular way for Pinoys to stay connected.
Some of the popular social networking sites include:
- Facebook - a social utility or platform that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them
- Friendster - a social networking site that emphasizes genuine friendships and the discovery of new people thru friends
- MySpace - a site where one can find friends and classmates, meet new people, listen to free music, build playlists, share photos, watch videos, etc.
- LinkedIn - a stie where millions of professionals use to exchange information, ideas, and opportunities
- Multiply - a site where users can create, share and discuss blogs, photos, videos and music with others, post movie or book reviews, or share a calendar of events.
- Twitter - a microblogging site where one can share and discover what is happening right now, anywhere in the world; enables its users to send and read text-based messages (tweets or posts of up to 140 characters) and delivered to the author's subscribers (followers).
- Buzz - a site that goes beyond status messages; enables users to share updates, photos, videos, and start conversations about the things users find interesting; may also be incorporated with email (ie, G-mail).
In addition, there are photo-sharing sites such as Flickr and Photobucket.
Now that the tools of communication have become much more varied and relatively much cheaper (if not free) than in yesteryears, there is not much reason not to get connected with our lots of kabayan and family and friends.
