The island province of Palawan (formerly part of Luzon but recently proclaimed to be under Western Visayas) has been ranked by the National Geographic Traveler magazine as East and Southeast Asia's best island destination and among the top 20 best islands in the world. Palawan is endowed with unique wildlife, including the mouse deer. Among the top resorts is Club Noah at Apulit island, Taytay, at the northeastern end of Palawan. These are the Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park and the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park.
