The Philippine city of Davao in Mindanao island has numerous credits to its name that it has invariably been dubbed as the "Royal City". Reasons for this include: 1) Davao's being one of the world's largest cities in terms of size; 2) its exotic flora (eg, "waling-waling" which is the queen of Philippine orchids) and fauna (eg, the Philippine eagle); and 3) its proximity to the country's tallest mountain (Mt. Apo). Further, Davao is a progressive metropolis and is the leading business and tourism hub in the entire southern Philippines.
