Corregidor island, part of Cavite City of the province of Cavite, is strategically located at the gateway to Manila Bay in the Philippines. During World War II, Corregidor ("the Rock") played a significant role in the defense of the Philippines, especially Bataan.

In the isle of courage that is Corregidor, the World War II Memorial serves as a timeless bastion and reminder of the valor and gallantry of the fighting men of the Philippines and their Allied Forces compatriots.  In the modern-day era, Corregidor has likewise transformed itself into a modern-day tourist attraction that is both reflective of the past and provides hope for the future.
