In the global poll conducted by Switzerland-based New Open World Corporation, the Puerto Princesa Underground River has been ranked among the new 7 wonders of nature. Aside from the Puerto Princesa Underground River (located in the province of Palawan, the Philippines), the other sites that made the provisional list of New 7 Wonders of Nature were: the Amazon (South America), Halong Bay (Vietnam), Iguazu Falls (border of Argentina and Brazil), Jeju Island (South Korea), Komodo Island (Indonesia), and Table Mountain (South Africa). It cannot be denied that the beauty and splendor of a scenic natural attraction stands out regardless of some form of recognition or appreciation from anyone other than the beholder. However, the merits of popular acclamation, through a validated selection process with widespread international participation such as the New 7 Wonders of Nature project, can go a long way in increasing global awareness about the winning sites. Now that the word is out on the New 7 Wonders of Nature, including the Puerto Princesa Underground River, would it not be a good idea to plan for that special trip of discovery and adventure to these magical places on earth?
